Chateau Sanctus La Bienfaisance 2015

$27.00Price

The particularity of this Sanctus wine from the Chateau La Bienfaisance is to be elaborated from vines only on calcareous soils and selected by Didier Peytour and Stéphane Derenoncourt. And to follow its evolution over time, the same selection is reproduced from vintage to vintage, with a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the first 70% component of this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

  • Tasting

Attractive violets, earthy dark plums and mulberries here lead to a palate with very plush yet supple raspberry and blackberry flavors, smooth, chocolatey tannins and a nicely focused finish.

  • Wine Spectator Rating

Ripe, with alluring damson plum and cherry preserve flavors that take the lead thanks to a judicious hand with the toast, while light floral, red licorice and singed balsam notes fill in the background. Supple finish. Best from 2019 through 2025. 3,458 cases made.

  • Vignification

After manual harvesting and alcoholic fermentation in vats, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 to 22 months, without any racking.

Thus is born a particularly expressive wine, with a nose that exhales very ripe black fruits and a mouth that combines elegance, complexity, race and power. This Grand Cru, dominated by Merlot, is to drink young or after a few years of cellar, according to your desires.
